Caring for Your Cashmere
Cashmere is one of the finest natural fibers, prized for its exceptional softness, warmth, and lightweight feel. With a little gentle care, your cashmere can remain beautiful, soft, and comfortable for years to come.
Wash Gently
Cashmere does not need frequent washing. After wearing, allow your garment to rest and air naturally before washing.
When washing is needed:
- Hand wash in cool or lukewarm water, up to 30°C
- Use a mild detergent specifically formulated for wool or cashmere
- Gently move the garment through the water
- Avoid rubbing, scrubbing, or twisting
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water
- Never use bleach or fabric softener
For delicate cashmere, hand washing is a particularly gentle option.
Never Wring
After washing, gently press out excess water.
Do not wring or twist your cashmere.
Instead, place the garment on a clean towel and gently roll the towel with the cashmere inside to absorb excess moisture.
Dry Flat
Gently reshape your garment while it is damp, then lay it flat on a clean, dry towel at room temperature.
Avoid:
- Hanging while wet
- Tumble drying
- Radiators or direct heat
- Direct sunlight
Drying flat helps your cashmere retain its original shape.
Give Your Cashmere a Little Rest
Cashmere benefits from resting between wears. Airing your garment can help refresh it without unnecessary washing.
This simple habit can help preserve the delicate fibers and extend the life of your knitwear.
Caring for Pilling
Small pills can naturally appear on cashmere, especially in areas exposed to friction. This is a normal characteristic of fine knitwear and does not necessarily indicate poor quality.
To remove them, gently use a cashmere comb on a flat surface, following the direction of the knit. Never pull pills by hand.
Store With Care
When your cashmere is not being worn:
- Fold it gently rather than hanging it
- Store it in a cool, dry, dark place
- Avoid placing heavy garments on top
- For longer-term storage, use a breathable garment bag
- Consider natural moth protection such as cedar or lavender
Always store cashmere folded and flat to help maintain its shape.
